"ANESTHESIA AND ALLIED SCIENCES FOR PARAMEDICS" edited by Dr. Manpreet Singh is primarily written for students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Medical Technology and Operation Theater Nurses and Trauma Technicians and also for anesthesiology residents. It comprises of six sections, which are color coded for easy identification.

Section one consists of anatomy, physiology and clinical biochemistry for paramedics. Details of all muscles, bones and joints along with their actions, nerves and vessels are compiled in a tabular form and hence that it can be easily learnt and recapitulated by students. Essential physiology and clinical biochemistry are concised subsections.

Second section provides detail about anesthesia and its various sub-specialties. This section has 40 chapters ranging from history of anesthesia, basics of anesthesia to sub-specialties of anesthesia. Design of operation theater and intensive care unit, sterilization, pain management, dialysis room management and transportation of patients are among the chapters outlined in detail in this section.

Third section, "Pharmacology in Anesthesia" describes pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of all anesthetic drugs and emergency drugs. These drugs are described in simple tabular forms.

Section four covers all the anesthesia instruments. These includes anesthesia machine, automated external defibrillator, sutures, vaporizers and all airway management equipment. The details of instruments will be very beneficial for the students during training periods, examination and day-to-day practice.

Fifth section provides knowledge of 32 unique topics of modern anesthetic practice that requires utmost attention. It highlights brief knowledge about clinical audit, hospital waste management, electrocardiography, electromyography, 2010 cardiopulmonary resuscitation guidelines, intensive care topics and physics in anesthesia.

The final section, highlights all the scoring systems and algorithms used in anesthesia. The students will be elated to read this section as they will feel comfortable to find all gradings at one place.
